Travel (10U-16U)
Griffins Travel hockey provides travel teams at the 10U A & AA, 12U A & AA, 14U A & AA as well as 16U A levels. All the travel teams participate in the Little Caesars Amateur Hockey League.
Tier II Travel hockey offers an opportunity for players to play at a higher level of competition with similarly skilled players from other associations throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Teams will usually practice 2-3 times per week, play games primarily on weekends and travel to 3 or 4 out-of-town tournaments during the season.
Tryouts for FALL TEAMS are held in mid-late May. Specific dates and times get posted per MAHA guidelines.

Griffins Travel Hockey is available for the following age groups:
10U A (2015 Birth year)
10U AA (2014 Birth year)
12U A (2013 Birth year)
12U AA (2012 Birth year)
14U A (2011 Birth year)
14U AA (2010 Birth year)
16U A (2009 and 2008 Birth year)
*Playing up will be considered on a case by case basis by the coaching staff and Hockey Director.
When
Tryouts for the fall season are in mid-late May. Equipment and apparel fittings are in June, and pre season ice begins in August for most teams. The regular season will begin in early September and run through early-mid March.
Where
Practices and home games will be held at Patterson Ice Center or Griffs Ice House. Away games could be as far east as Toledo, OH and as far north as Traverse City.
Tournaments are typically in the Michigan area, but could be in IL, IN, or OH depending on the team.
Costs
Costs for Travel teams vary by team and full budgets will be available prior to Tryouts in the spring. Team fees will include practice ice, home games, officials, tournament fees, and coaching fees. They will not include jersey and equipment fees, apparel and travel expenses such as hotels.
Practices
Teams typically practice on the ice for 3 hours per week. This can be done in three 1 hour sessions or two 90 minute sessions.
Usually travel teams practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but each team will have their practice schedule depending on coaching availability.
Games
10U A/AA: Approx. 45 games per season
12U A/AA: Approx. 55 games per season
14U A/AA: Approx. 65 games per season
16U A: Approx. 65 games per season
Travel to games will depend on alignments in the LCAHL and what teams are most competitive.
Tournaments
Every team will compete in at least 3-4 tournaments. Older teams such as 14U A/AA could compete in as many as 6 tournaments over the course of the season.
Team budgets will include tournament fees but they will not include the travel costs such as hotels or food.

What is it?
The Griffins Travel (A & AA) program is open to all players who are interested in playing. Players will attend Tryouts for fall teams in the spring, and players will be offered a spot on the team based on their skill level. GRAHA offers this program to players in 10U (Squirt), 12U (Peewee), 14U (Bantam) and 16U (Midget) levels.
What is the league the teams play in?
Griffins Travel teams play in the Little Caesars Amateur Hockey League (LCAHL). The league is tiered so teams are placed in a level based their skill level using the coaches requests and previous years team statistics. Divisions are formed within each tier usually based on geographical location of the team when able. Occasionally there are teams from Illinois Indiana and Ohio but teams do not have to travel there to play. League details can be found at lcahl.org
